Manhattan is one of the most desirable places in the world to live –– and these big names prove it. In fact, New York has served as a celebrity hub for decades.

With countless stars living across Manhattan, we put together a list organized by neighborhood to help you narrow down your celebrity sitings.

Known as one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in New York City, Tribeca, short for the “Triangle Below Canal Street,” is the place to be. The area is largely made up of industrial buildings, which have been transformed into multimillion-dollar lofts.

Jay Z and Beyonce have owned a Tribeca penthouse for years. Jay Z first moved in 2004, and his spacious digs cost $6.8 million. The penthouse is also rumored to be the place where the couple tied the knot in 2008. Today their pad is worth a cool $56 million, with an 8,000-square-foot interior and an additional 3,000-square-foot terrace and outdoor area.

Robert De Niro has been a long time Tribeca resident as well. As a founder of the Tribeca Film Festival, he owns a penthouse on the top of the Greenwich Hotel. When Harry Met Sally star Meg Ryan recently moved to the area after purchasing a three-bedroom apartment for $9.3 million about two years ago.

Pop songstress Taylor Swift has been in the area since 2014 when she purchased not one, but two matching penthouses on Franklin Street. In 2017, Swift added to her growing Tribeca empire with the purchase of an adjoining townhouse.

Upper East Side.

Known for its stately brownstones, tree-lined streets, and upscale restaurants and shops along Madison Avenue, the Upper East Side is also home to some of the biggest names in Hollywood.

Director Woody Allen has been a fixture on the UES for more than three decades. So has Madonna , who has called the UES home for years. Saturday Night Live star Leslie Jones , who owns a $2 million property on the UES, loves the area so much that she made a tribute video to the neighborhood, which went viral earlier this year.

Upper West Side.

Home to the iconic Lincoln Center and the Museum of Natural History, the Upper West Side is a popular spot for celebs.

Comedian and actor Jerry Seinfeld , who was born and raised in Brooklyn, lives on the UWS. Funny enough, his current residence is only a few blocks from his fictional apartment on the hit sitcom Seinfeld.

British rockstar Sting has resided in NYC for decades, although he splits his time between the UWS and his homeland of England. The Devil Wears Prada star Anne Hathaway is a recent UWS convert, purchasing a luxury condo for $2.5 million in early 2019.

Legendary comedian Steve Martin has lived on the UWS for years in the iconic San Reno building, which has also served as a home for big names like Steve Jobs and Barry Manilow.

In addition, fashion designer Donna Karan , actor Kevin Bacon , and actor Denzel Washington live on the UWS, as well as Bono , frontman of the Irish band U2, and Tina Fey, f ormer SNL actress and creator of the hit TV show 30 Rock.

Greenwich Village/West Village.

Known for its eclectic vibe, Greenwich Village is a hub for the creative elite. In 2017, celebrity power couple Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel dropped $20 million on a 5,000-square-foot Greenwich Village pad.

Actor Hugh Jackman has been in the West Village since 2013, when he purchased an 11,000-square-foot $25 million luxury property. Actor and comedian Alec Baldwin owns multiple properties in the neighborhood, as well as Sex in the City’s Sarah Jessica Parker , l egendary rocker Jon Bon Jovi , and actress Claire Danes .

Located on the west side of midtown, Chelsea has gone through many changes over the decades. Today, the area is known as one of the most fashionable districts in Manhattan – and with that comes at a serious price tag.

Longtime Chelsea resident Cameron Diaz has been in the neighborhood for almost seven years, dropping $9 million on a three-bedroom condo in 2013. More recently, pop star Ariana Grande moved into a $16 million apartment in the neighborhood.
