Countless celebs live all over New York, yet spotting one of your idols when travelling through the city is a sadly rare occassion. Once upon a time you’d have been sure to rub shoulders with the glitterati at CBGB and Village Vanguard, with drag stars at Club 82 or VIPs at Lenox Lounge. Today, while things still centre around Greenwich Village and the Meat Packing district, New York’s star-spangled nightlife has sprawled across Manhattan. So rather than praying to the gods of luck that you’ll bag a selfie with TayTay in TriBeCa, we’ve devised a list of super-cool hangouts where you can listen to some of the best music while upping up your chances of picking up a fresh autograph.

Whether you’re mingling with Jay Z in the 21 Club or joining in with one of Lady Gaga’s impromptu performances at Bar SixtyFive, we know you’re going to want to capture the moment and savour it forever. (You can thank us later).

1. Brooklyn Bowl.

A Brooklyn icon and Williamsburg hub, Brooklyn Bowl is unlike any other music venue in New York. With the opportunity to bowl, drink, eat and listen to live music all at the same time, it’s no wonder Beyonce has been spotted here on several occasions, especially when her sister Solange is DJ-ing. Kanye was also spotted here with Wu Tang Clan member GZA for a suprise set. Life goal number 1: challenge North and Kim Kardashian to a bowling match.
